THE ALOHA DT BLOG HOP!

Aloha, and welcome to Michelle Perkett's Aloha DT Blog Hop!

Don't you wish you lived in Hawaii, I know I do!  I have never been there, but it looks so beautiful.

This hop is to celebrate Michelle's first DT members and their wonderful 6 month term, that is finishing the end of July.  I can actually say by a fluke I discovered PCP, and then Michelle Perkett's group on PCP, and it is because of the amazing images by Michelle, and her incredibly talented ladies on the DT, that I started a blog and entered my first card challenge.  I knew nothing about blogging, or using copics, what was the best card stock to print and color on.  I learnt these things just by checking out their blogs, and by talking to them on PCP.  You are all very talented and I would like to thank you very much for all your inspirations, and your amazing work. 

So I did a bit of googling about Hawaii, and discovered each island has their own color.  My main color for my project is green, and I discovered that this represents the island of  MOLOKA'I.  My complete Hawaiian name is Melelina Elikapeka Wepi, which is Marilyn Elizabeth Webb.  I think it sounds prettier in Hawaiian, but I'll stick with English, it's easier to  pronounce.

Michelle provided us with a darling image called Leilani, she was a lot of fun to color and play with.  So here are a few pictures of my project.

This is my card and treat box, you can find the tutorial for this box Here.  I made a LEI to frame the image.  I used the Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge to make the flowers, and then added glitter to the tips of the flowers.

This is a close-up of just the card, as you can see some of the flowers have pearls for the centers. 

This is the inside of the card.  I used my Cricut to cut an oval out of the front of the card, so that you could see Leilani.  Here she is cut out with the oval and scalloped Spellbinder Dies, and layered on card stock.  The gorgeous DP is by Martha Stewart, and I also used her Optic Dot border punch for the lace, and for around the box lid.

This is the top of the box, where I used a dollarstore butterfly, and Crafts pearls, and a bow to finish it off.

Ta Da!  As you can see each side is big enough to hold a tea bag.  I didn't have any at the time, so I just decorated the sides.  The candy is from Laura Secord, they are tasty Fruit Wedges.  I thought they would go great with the Island theme.

This is just another view of the box and candy.  In this picture you can see the lacy effect with the Optic Dots border punch.  Then I finished it with some thin white ribbon.

Michelle Perkett Challenge #40 - Joy Fold Card

Happy Saturday everyone, hope it's been a good one.  This week is one of my favorite cards to make, Joy Fold, and here is my entry for the challenge!

This is the "Happy Easter Bunny" digital image, but I used it for a thank you card.  My color combo is pink, turquoise and purple, which I love together.

Michelle Perkett Challenge #39 - Color Combo and Butterflies!

I've been a busy little beaver this week with card challenges.  Here is another and unfortunately, the final challenge by the amazing DT's at Michelle's group.  A talented bunch of ladies!!

This week we are using a color combo of WHITE, REAL RED, COTTON CANDY PINK, AND KRAFT.  This is a great color combination, I love it.  I used the adorable "Flying Birthday Girl Stamp", one of many gorgeous stamps you will find at Michelle's etsy store.  Here is my card.

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #12 - "The NIghtmare Before Christmas in July"

What a fun challenge this was!  I have been wanting to do a challenge with the Burtonesque Dolls, for a while now, and finally got around to it.  This image is from Tiddly Inks,  where you will find all kinds of stamps to suit any projects, and this cutie is called "Drama Queen".

This is my take on The Nightmare Before Christmas, where you combine a halloween/goth image with christmas.  I loved the idea.  She is sending out her christmas message "Enjoy the Season" from her mind to her skull, and into the universe.....  hmmm, just giving myself a mental shake.

I am also entering this card in the Tiddly Inks challenge for this week.  It is challenge number 14 - Sketch It!  Here is a picture of the sketch we are using.

Halloween is Hoppin' at Tiddly Inks!

            Hello and Welcome to Halloween in July with Tiddly Inks!  

I was so excited to hear about this blog hop, because Halloween is my favourite holiday, just ask my kids.  I love to get into costume, the scarier the better.  I thought I'd start my post with a little story about Halloween and my youngest daughter Stacey.

Stacey was just under two years old when we celebrated her first Halloween.  I decided to make a clown costume for her, it was a harlequin clown.  I was so proud how it turned out.  So, halloween came, and I dressed her, white make-up and all, then decided to show her what she looked like.  I have never heard a child scream that loud before!!!  She was absolutely terrified, she didn't even realize that it was her, looking back at her in the mirror.  She was screaming "off mommy off"!  So needless to say, she didn't go out as a clown that year, she didn't want anything to do with it.  I think she sobbed for atleast an hour.  I felt so bad.  My daughter is 28 years old now, and still terrified of clowns.  Do I see therapy in the future!  Halloween's after that went very smoothly, she liked the scary costumes.  I can't wait till her son is old enough to understand, and I can tell him about his momma and why she hates clowns!

I wanted to make a somewhat "creepy" card using the Gossmere image.  I love the Goth images sold at Tiddly Inks.  So here is what I came up with.

I found a skull template on the internet, and made it into a pocket card.  The spiders were made with my Cricut Doodle Charms cartridge.  I added some Martha Stewart glitter to the legs, and some Stickles Red Pearls for the eyes.  The designer paper is from my Halloween pack by Basic Grey.  The sentiment is by Kraftin Kimmie.  Now here is the pocket part of the card.

I loved the idea of having "Gossmere" come out of the mouth of the skull, like a "Queen".  I attached her with black velvet ribbon.  She is layered on Basic Grey card stock, which was cut out with the Spellbinders Oval and Scalloped Dies.  Here are a few close-ups of Gossmere and the spiders.

I had to take the pictures a few times, and then ended up taking them outside, that's why there are a few shadows, but I hope you like my halloween card, or should I say, I hope it gives you the creeps!  Have fun and enjoy the rest of your Halloween blog hop.  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my pocket card.  I can't wait to see everyones entries.  Have a great day!

Michelle Perkett Challenge #38 - Color Combo and Sketch!

This week at Michelle Perkett's challenge blog we had the choice of either a color combo, a sketch, or a combination of both.  I chose to use the color combo, shown below.

I used the bathing beauty "Olive", a real looker!!  I decided to make an easel card, instead of using the sketch.  I cut the card with my Cricut Wildcard cartridge.  The shape is called doiles, but I thought it made a cute flower card.  Here she is.

These were my closest colors to turquoise.  Didn't I tell you she was a "looker'!.  Here is the card opened.

The sentiment "Oh Happy Day" was also cut with the Cricut cartridge.  I thought it was a perfect expression for spending a day at the beach.  Last but not least, a close-up of the sentiment.

The designer paper, is sheet music.  It is some I have had for ages, I am using that for the sand color, and I thought it went well with the saying, because I think it's the name of a song  I have heard.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #12 - Summer Fun with Water, Sand and Toys!

Well, it's another hot and  humid day here yet again!!!  Lord, let it rain.  I will even take snow.  As you can see I am not a lover of hot and humid weather, give me the fall anytime.  I am entering this card in both the Tiddly Inks challenge and Paper Take Weekly challenge.  Tiddly Inks challenge is all about summer, and PTW is a sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch.

The image from Tiddly Inks was a freebie on PCP.  I cropped out the sea shells, and used them to make a designer paper on the printer using the Paint program.

Michelle Perkett Challenge #37 - White on White with Colored Image!

Happy Saturday all, I am finally getting a bit of relief from all the heat this week.  It was exhausting, still hot and muggy here, and with the  humidity, it is sitting at 37 C.  Much better than 44 or 45 C. that it was all week.
I love the white on white challenge, it gives your card or project a rich look.  I kept it simple.  I am trying to make more CAS cards (clean and simple), therefore taking less time to do.  I love how it turned out, I think it took me just over an hour.
I used the "Princess for a Day" image, totally adorable!  I used copics to color her, and I cut her out using the Spellbinders oval die, and oval scalloped die.  I also used the new Cuttlebug Romance embossing folder for the background, and the Cuttlebug corner dies.  The butterfly is from Crafts, which I got a package of 6 for a buck at the dollar store.  The pearls are also by Craft and from the dollar store.

Sassy Thursday - Lets Get Sketchy Challenge!

I am a little late posting, it has been so friggin hot here, that I didn't have the energy to do anything.  Doesn't help that I don't have air conditioning!  I guess I  had better remedy that.

Friday Sketchers Challenge #109

Happy Saturday everyone!  Above is the sketch we are using in this weeks challenge at Friday Sketchers.  This one took me a while, found it a little challenging, but thoroughly enjoyable. 

This is my take on the sketch.  I used the "Sassy White Rabbit" from Sassy Studio Designs, where you will find many more sassy digital images like this one.  As usual I printed the image on Neenah card stock, and used my copics for coloring.  The designer paper is from Basic Grey - Capella Paper Pad, and I used Bazzill card stock, and some gems from my stash.  The beautiful sentiment is from Create with TLC.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #11

What a beautiful friday evening, and a wonderful start to the week-end.  Although, we are suppose to get some high humidity starting tomorrow night, not looking forward to that!  Neither is my husband, he has to live with "miserable" for the next few days.  Talk about major personality change, give me the good ole' winter anytime...hehe.
Alright back to the challenge, for this week we had to design something with the colors Red, White and Blue.  It could be a freedom card, summer theme, what ever your little heart desired.  This is what I came up with.

I used the adorable Spring Hugg a Bugg image, and for the usual info, printed on Neenah card stock and colored with copics.  The folded ribbon was from a tutorial that my buddy Ileana told me about, I love the look, and it was quite simple.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC, which you can find here.  I am really amazed at all the word art she has available, and for free.  I also used some Prima mini roses, and doodlebug buttons.  The embossing is the new dots folder from Cuttlebug.
I have more exciting news, more bragging rights for me, I got the "Top 3" badge from Tiddly Inks for last weeks challenge.  I just wanted to say thank you to the team at Tiddly Inks for picking me.

Sassy Studio Designs July Release!

It's release day, and my first official day with Sassy Studio's amazing design team.  Welcome to my blog! I would like to wish all my fellow Canadians a "Happy Canada Day"!  We have so much fun planned for you guys today. We have the blog hop, the new releases, a scavenger hunt, and a card challenge.  So lets get started.
Here are a couple of the July releases, if you have been checking the DT's blogs this week, you would of seen some sneak peeks, if not you will see them during your blog hop.  I made a Nestie's box with the "New Sassy Cassie" and a card with the new "June Bride" image.

Don't you just love these new images!  We are also having a card challenge, you are required to use an SSD image, and your card should represent something OLD, NEW, BORROWED, and BLUE.  You have until July 2nd, 6:00 p.m. PST time, and you could win 3 SSD images.  I used the "Sailor Honey" which is also part of the July release.

For my OLD, I used card stock I have had for ages, my NEW is the SSD image, my BORROWED is ribbon I took from another card, and BLUE, of course is the color.  I hope you will play along with our challenge.
We are also having a scavenger hunt, each of us will have an item for you, that will be included in our individual posts.  The items in the scavenger hunt can be from around the house, or of your neighbour, pics of yourself or someone else. Once you have accumulated all of the items, take a picture and email it to Sara, her email is luvs2stamp71@att.net.  It cannot be a pictures taken off the internet.  You have until tonight at midnight (July 1st) PST time to email Sara and you could win 3 more SSD images.

Now, for a little bit of fun and reminiscing, here is my wedding picture taken 17 years ago.  This was a second marriage for both of us.  My husband Fred has two kids and I have one, and we became a combined family.  Can you tell mauve was my favourite color!  We didn't have a big wedding, just friends and family, and it was at our  home.  I have a cute story to tell you.  My husband's work sent us to a swanky hotel in Montreal for the night, plus they sent a Magnum of Champagne to our hotel room, which we didn't know about.  If you've never seen a Magnum, it's pretty damn big!   Anyway, we're changed and relaxing when someone knocks on our door, we weren't expecting anyone.  So, my husband answers the door, and there is the bell-boy with our Magnum of champagne and at least 10 Champagne Flutes (this is your item to find), you should of seen his face when he realized we were just two people, talk about making a quick exit.  I don't think he even waited for his tip!!  I won't tell you if we drank the whole bottle, don't want you to think we drink too much!
