Michelle Perkett Challenge #43 - Hold On To Summer!

Wow, it's hard to believe that today is the last day of August, where did the summer go!  Personally I am glad to see the heat go, my favourite season is coming, Fall.  All the kids are back in school.  It's cute to see the little ones in their school uniform.  Well, I'm long past that, thank god!

This weeks challenge is all about "Holding on to Summer".  Michelle has tons of summer fun images, you can find them all here at Michelle's Etsy store.

For my last days of summer I chose her image "Cal The CA Surfing Cow".  The beach, surfing and warm weather, just screams summer!

I tried to keep this card as masculine as possible, so no pretty ribbons this time.  The wonderful sentiment, "ride like the wind" comes from Create With TLC, where you'll find so many sentiments to chose from.  I also used Photoshop Elements, to add sparkles to Cal's glasses, the sand, star and buttons.  I'm just starting to use my PSE, there is so much you can do, but I've got a lot to learn.

I hope you will join our challenge this week, and if  you do don't forget to link you entry to Michelle's challenge blog.  You can find it HERE.  Thanks for stopping by, I can't wait to see what you create!  Have a marvelous week.

Paper Sundaes - Christmas In August!

Christmas in August, and when you think about it, Christmas is less than 4 months away!  It's a perfect time to be making all those cards you are going to need for the holidays.  This beautiful image is called "Holly The Christmas Friendship Fairy", and she is one of many gorgeous fairies created by Michelle Perkett.  You can find this image and many more at Michelle's etsy shop.  Good luck trying to figure out which ones you want!!

Well, I had to dig out some of my left over christmas paper, and Cuttlebug embossing folders to create this card.  The designer papers are from LYB - Peppermint Snowflakes on White, and 3 Bugs in a Rug - Season's Greetings.  I used the Cuttlebug Holly Ribbon embossing folder on the red card stock panel.  The border punch is Optic Dot by Martha Stewart.  I also had to dig out my christmas sentiments from Kraftin Kimmie, which was cut out using Spellbinder oval and scalloped dies.  I used christmas white flower soft on the coats fur trim, and for snow on the branches.  The holly flower was cut out with my cricut.  I added some glitter with a Sakura glitter pen.  The gems and flower center were from last years leftover stash.

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:
Saturday Challenge - Challenge #98 Make A Start On Christmas.
Bee Crafty - Challenge #37 Anything Goes!

I hope this encourages you to get a head start on all those Christmas cards you know you're going to have to make!  Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Sketch Saturday - Challenge #118

Another fabulous Sketch Saturday challenge.  This week I used the newly released "Polly, Dolly and William" from Michelle Perkett Studios. I hope you'll pop over and take a look at her gorgeous images.  There's something for everyone!!

We were provided with this amazing sketch.

This is my entry for the challenge.

I replaced the sentiment with flowers, since the sentiment was already part of the image.  The designer paper is from Scenic Route.  I have been dying to use my new Garden Trellis punch by Martha Stewart.  It was one of my gifts, my daughter and son-in-law brought with them when they visited last week.  I am a very lucky lady!!   The flowers and leaves were cut with my Cricut, I used the Accent Essentials cartridge.  I embossed the background paper with the Polka Dot folder by Cuttlebug.  Then I added a few gems, and some glitter with my Sakura glitter pen, and voila a finished card!

I just want to remind you that their is currently a blog hop and challenge running on Michelle Perkett's blog.  You can find all the information Here.

Thanks for stopping by and having a peek.  Have a great week-end everyone!

Bella The Baker!

Hello, and happy Saturday.  Today I am posting a card with the gorgeous "Bella The Baker" by Michelle Perkett.  If you are looking for some amazing and versatile stamps head on over to Michelle's Etsy Store.  I also want to remind you there is currently a Blog Hop and Challenge going on, and you will have a chance to win a $10.00 shopping spree, and a free image called "Hugs Before School".  Of course, you have to use a Michelle Perket Studio image, and you have until August 30th at 5:00 P.M. (MST), to link your entry on her blog.  You will find all the information you need HERE.  Good luck everyone!

My color combo today was Yellow and Green.  I had to add some pink, because what's cake without pink frosting!  I guess this would qualify for a CAS card, not too much going on, but it allows the image to take center stage.

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafts and Me Challenges - Challenge #11 Petals and Pearls.
Paper Sundaes - Challenge #32 Sketch
PaperTake Weekly - It's A recipe!
For the recipe it was 3-2-1, so I used 3 flowers, 2 different colored card stocks (green and yellow), or the two yellow pearls, and 1, could either be my image or the designer paper.

Card Recipe:
Neenah Card Stock, Copics
Martha Stewart - Designer Paper and Checkerboard Border Punch
A/C card stock
Prima Mini Roses
Crafts - Pearls
Happy Birthday Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

Well, there you have it, and I hope you will join our hop and challenge this week.  The DT's did an amazing job!  Hope you will stop over and leave them so love!

Michelle Perkett Challenge #42 - Back To School!

Hi there, can't believe it's Tuesday already, and another challenge up and running.  Today features the new DT's from Team B, I hope you'll visit their blogs and leave them some love.  You can check out the challenge, and entries on Michelle's Blog.  Don't forget you could win a $10.00 shopping spree at Michelle's Etsy Store.  There are so many wonderful digital images to chose from, and trust me that will be the hardest part!!  For my card today I used the newly released  "Boy and Dog Bookplate".

So what embodies back to school more than books.  I decided to try and make my card look like a book.  I rolled a piece of card stock, and glued it to the fold on both the front and back, to make it look like the binding of a book.  Then I used the Martha Stewart checkerboard border punch, and glued that on top, gives it a spinal look.  I wanted the name of a popular book for boys ages 7-9, so I spent some time googling, and found this one "The Mystery Of The Pirate Ghost" and used it to name my book.  I thought the ribbon was a great embellishment, because I've lost myself many times to the mysteries of a good book, and I considered that a cherished memory.

Well, I hope you will join us again this week, and I look forward seeing all the amazing entries.  Good luck ladies!

I am also entering this card in the Incy Wincy - Challenge #56 Buttons and Bows.

Card Recipe:
Neenah Card Stock, Copics

Sassy Studio Designs - Sponsoring Practical Scrappers!

Hi, another fun challenge over at Practical Scrappers this week. The theme is Lace Cardstock.  Don't forget you have a chance to win some fabulous Sassy Images.

I used the Crissy's Prom digi, I think she is very sassy!!  I made the lace cardstock with the Cricut Spring Collection cartridge.  I just love how it turned out.  I decided to make a circle card, which shows off the lace.  I used Martha Stewart designer paper to layer the image on, which I cut out with the Spellbinders oval and scalloped dies.  I love green and purple together, it's a wonderful combinations.  Of course, the incredible sentiment is from Create With TLC.

I hope you will hop over to Practical Scrappers and join in the challenge, looking forward to seeing your entries.  Have a great day.

Beautiful "Camille" a Michelle Perkett Digi

Hi everyone, hope you are having a fabulous Saturday.  It's been a busy week, with starting on a new DT with Michelle Perkett Studio, and having an incredible visit with my daughter, I still managed to find some time to color and make a few cards.  I wanted to share the lovely "Camille", a new release at Michelle's Etsy Store.  I hope  you pop in and check out the amazing images Michelle has created.  I'm sure  you will fall in love with each and every one of them.  I know I did!

Isn't she just adorable!  I wanted to use the color combo of  Pink, Purple and Green.  I really love the three colors together.  I just got the new Martha Stewart Flower Shower border punch, and couldn't wait to use it on the card.  I also used her large dot border punch.  The flowers and swirls were cut on my cricut.  I stitched around the designer paper (also Martha Stewart) with purple thread, and then in just two corners with green thread.  I used Stickles Crystal Clear on her hair, tail and bows.  For some shine I used Aleene's Paper glaze on the pink coral.  Too bad it's hard to see the shine in the picture.  I am very very happy with how she turned out.

I just wanted to remind you that every Tuesday we  have a challenge on Michelle's Blog.  The current challenge is Anything Goes.  If your are new to Michelle's images, you can find some freebies on Paper Craft Planet.  The best part about joining our challenges is you have a chance to win a $10.00 shopping spree at Michelle's Etsy store.  I hope you will join in on the fun, and I look forward to seeing your entries.

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday - Inspired By A Favourite Song!

Hi, and welcome to another fabulous Sassy Thursday!  This week is about being inspired by a favourite song.  My song is "The Lady In Red" by Chris De Burgh.  This holds a lot of great memories and fun times for me.  Whenever we were at parties or weddings my sweetie would request this song, so we could dance, and after all these years he still does!!  So, enough of memory lane, here is my card.

I used one of the new August releases, she is the sassy Little Honey Belle.  I also paper pieced the lace, her gloves and the shoulders, with a shiny cream card stock.  What a job to cut them out!  The flowers are some I made with the same designer paper as on the card base.  I added some paper glaze to give them a shine, but it doesn't show up that well in the picture.

I hope this has inspired you to join our challenge this week at SSD, and of course don't forget you could win some of Lindsay's awesome digi images.  Don't forget to link up your creation on the SSD challenge blog.

Card Receipe:

Michelle Perkett Challenge #41 - Anything Goes!!

Good morning all!  I am so excited to announce that I made the DT call for Michelle Perkett Studio.  I love her stamps, there is something for everyone!  There is also a challenge posted every Tuesday, and you can find it posted  HERE, I hope you will join in the fun, and for an added bonus, you get a chance to win a $10.00 shopping spree at Michelle's etsy store!

This weeks challenge is "Anything Goes", you can make any kind of project or card, as long as you use one of Michelle's stamps.  I really threw this card together in a hurry.  I have been busy all day, along with getting things going with my new DT job, I also have my daughter coming home on Wednesday, and I am "over the hill" excited to see her, it has been way too long!

I think she turned out pretty cute!  This is the lovely Mary Margaret stamp.  She is a freebie offered on the PCP group.  I think she is already to start school.  I love this sentiment from Create With TLC, is it the apple that's sweet, or the little girl!
The lovely pink background was cut with the Spring Collection Cricut cartridge.  I added some glass gems on some of the flowers, and some green pearls in the corners.
I paper pieced the whole image, except for hair and skin.  I used 3D pop dots on the pink sleeves, and the apple, so they would stand out a bit from the dress.
The roses are some I made, using the same paper that I used to layer the image and sentiment on.  I glazed the flowers, to harden them and make them shiny.
Well, that's my card for this week,  thanks for coming by.  I look forward to seeing all your entries for the first challenge with the new DT group.  Have a great day!

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #15 - Favourite Burton Film!

Hi, and welcome to another card challenge.  This was easy for me, as "Beetlejuice" has always been my favourite Burton film.  Although, I do love all the others!  I used the Tiddly Inks Happy Couple image.  So, here's my card!

I tried a new technique today.  I found a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers for making faux woodgrain.  As it turned out I didn't have half of the stuff, so I tweaked it and came up with this one.  It's a lighter version than on the tutorial, so I call it oak.  It was quite simple, you need three shades of brown ink, and starting with the lightest, you pull your ink pad down from top to bottom.  You do the same with the other two shades.  Then you go over it again with the lightest brown, and then go over the finished product with whisper white ink.  Then I cut out a rectangle frame with my Cricut, mitered the corners, I scored some lines on the frame, then added the brads, and taped it together.  Before adding the brads, I embossed the frame with thick clear embossing powder, that's what gives it the shine.  I think it turned out pretty good, for my first try, and it does look like wood.
I guess you are wondering about the sentiment.  It's a quote from the movie, and was the answer Betelgeuse gave when he was asked "Do you take this woman to be your wedded wife".  This is what I added to it.

I thought it would make a great Halloween card.  What do you think?

I am also entering this in the Tiddly Inks - Challenge #16 Windows.  Create a card/project with a window that either opens or you can see the image threw.

Well, that's my entry for this week, thanks for coming by.

Michelle Perkett - DT Call!

Michelle Perkett Studios is having a DT call, and I thought I might try out.  She gave us a cute little Birthday Cake digi image to use.  You can find all the information on her BLOG, the deadline is August 15th.

So here is what I came up with.  I went shopping for some new papers to use, and love how they just go perfectly with the card.  This was also my first attempt at making "rolled rose buds", (try saying that a few times).  Quite easy to do, and they look pretty good.  I brushed on some diamond glaze for a shine and harden them a bit, then add a sprinkling of glitter.   The leaves were cut out with my Cricut.  I used the Martha Stewart Optic Dot border punch on the DP behind the image.  The corners of the pink card stock were punched with the Fiskars Corner Punch.  The sketch used for this card was provided by Sketch Saturday.

I am also entering this card in the following challenges.
Stamp Something - Photo Inspiration Somethings.
Sketch Saturday - Challenge #115 Sketch Provided.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #15 - Fit For A Princess!

Ever have that feeling that you forgot something, but for the life of you, you can't remember!  Well, that happened to me this morning.  I was checking my notes and realized that I hadn't done my card yet for the Tiddly Inks challenge.  That will teach me for thinking "I have two weeks, that's plenty of time"!  Anyway, I managed to get it done today, and still have time to spare.
The theme was to make a card or project fit for a "Princess".  I used the adorable "Everyday Princess", and chose the colors Purple and Turquoise.  I am very happy with  how she turned out.  I was fooling around with some flowers I cut with the one of the Cricut cartridges, and came up with this flower, turned out quite cute.  Since it was all about Princesses, I used some brand new DP and card stock, only the best for my Princess!!

I am also entering this card in the

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday - Let's Get Punchy!

Good morning all, hope your Thursday is off to a good start.  Wow, this week has certainly flew by, I can't believe it's time for another Sassy Thursday challenge!  This week it's all about punches.  You can use one or as many as you want.  For my card I used the new "Little Honey's Cinderella".

I found the tutorial here, to make this gorgeous Scalloped Easel card.  You start off with a round card, and then you need to punch out 3-4, 2 inch scalloped circles, and cut them in half.  They are then glued to the back of another circle which is about 1/2 inch small than your card.  This is just a rough idea on how to do it, the tutorial is better at explaining, and there's pictures (which I love)!  Here's a pic of the card opened.

I did a lot of fussin" with this card, and I am not completely satisfied with the outcome.  But, the more I look at it, the happier I get.  I am my worse critic!!

So, I hope you participate, after all who wouldn't want a chance to win some Sassy digi's. Link up your project at the SSD challenge blog.  Have a great day!

Card Recipe:
Spellbinders - Oval and Scalloped Dies
2 inch scalloped circle punch

Sassy Studio Designs -A Very Merry "UN-BIRTHDAY" August Release Blog Hop!

Hello, and Happy Sunday!  Grab a cup of java, and sit back and relax, you are going to love Sassy Studio Design's August release.  Lindsay has designed some gorgeous background papers, that are a perfect match for all her "Alice In Sassy Land" digital images.  They are also great to use with other Sassy gals.  We also have some new Sassy images, which you will see threw out the blog hop.
Hmm have I got your curiosity going?  We have all got some amazing projects to show you. So the order of the blog hop is as follows.  It starts at SSD's challenge blog, and the next stop along the way, after me, is Lisa.  Plus, each DT member is going to pick 1 commenter from their blog, and announce it on Monday on the SSD challenge blog, and wait for it....you will win 1 Sassy Image of your choice!!  All you will have to do is email Lindsay to let her know which one you want.  Good luck with that, it's not going to be easy to narrow it down to one!
So, I will stop my chattering and show you my cards with the new backgrounds.  The first up is the gorgeous "Sassy White Rabbit" image.

I designed this Clock Easel card myself.  I wanted it to match the background paper, which you can see on the inside of the card in the next picture.

This is the new "Clock" background paper, I love it, and so much fun to work with.  I will have the information about the cards at the end of the post.  My next card is the new release "Gladiator"  and I have used the "Crown" background papers.  I used the sketch from the Incy Wincy challenge this week, and I am entering this card in the sketch challenge.

I thought this was a perfect DP to go with the image.  For my next card I used the Little Honey's "Alice" image and the background paper is called "Hearts".

I have the new Cuttlebug embossing folders called  "Love Is In The Air", and it had the "Queen of Hearts" folder which went perfectly with the theme and DP.  I hope you can see it in the picture.  Last but not least, I used the Little Honey's "Cheshire Cat" with the new Keyhole background papers.

I think this is my favourite of the papers, although I love them all.  You will see more of them during your hop.  I used some silver foil card stock to create a saucer for the little minx to lie on.

Since this is a birthday party theme, we are all giving you one of our favourite cake recipes.  Mine is an Orange Cake with Orange Buttercream Frosting.  I'm not going to type it here, but if you would like the recipe, just leave a comment along with your email address, and I will get it out to you on Monday.  It's a delicious cake, and it makes 2 or 3 layers.  Here is a tantalizing picture of the cake mmmmm.

Doesn't it look yummy!!

Don't forgot to join us on our Party blog tonight at 7 pm.  Well, that's it for me, thanks for joining us on our hop, hope to talk to you tonight online.
