Sketch Saturday Challenge Week #144

                 

I loved using this sketch, because I got to use up a few scraps (which I have many of)!  The image is a rubber stamp by Sweat Pea Stamps, and it is called “Midnight Waiting”.  The sentiment is also from Sweat Pea.

I colored the image with Copics, and then added some clear glitter by Martha Stewart to the moon.  I distressed the image and the background layer.  The red dotted designer paper is from the Oliver Paper Pad by Basic Grey.  I picked up the metal brads from the dollar store.

Pollycraft Monday Challenge #81 Diamonds and Pearls

                   

Last week I won the challenge at Pollycraft Monday, and this is one of the ten free images from Pollycraft that I won.  This adorable digital image is called “Star Fairy”, and I think she is so cute hanging there upside down!

As you can see there is a lot going on in the layout of this card.  I got the sketch from the Card Making and Papercraft magazine for February. 

I colored the image with copics, and then used the Spellbinders round and scalloped dies to cut out and layer the digi.  I added some cute little white pearls to her shoes, and used a Sakura glitter pen on the wings, her hat and the Star branches.  I also added some Crafts crystal (diamond) gems around the image.  The designer paper is from the Olivia paper pad by Basic Grey, and from Graphic 45 – Once Upon A Springtime Collection.  I embossed the turquoise back panel with a folder from Cuttlebug.  Then on the front panel I added a lacy effect with a border punch from Martha Stewart.  The flowers I crocheted with embroidery floss, then added buttons from Doodlebug.  I also sewed around the outside of the card and along the front panel.  Then I added some pink pearls on the corners.  Ribbon and lace are from my leftovers from other projects.  I also used a sentiment from Kraftin’ Kimmie.

Sassy Cheryl’s Challenge #52 Spring? Easter? Your Choice!

                   

I got this adorable image as a freebie on Paper Craft Planet, and thought it would make a cute card for Spring.

The layout for the card is a sketch from Papertake Weekly.  I colored the digi with copics.  The designer paper is from the Hopscotch paper pad by Basic Grey.  The lace border was made with a border punch by Martha Stewart.

Arty Expression 2 – by C.S. Design

                   

It’s time for another card featuring a unique image from C.S. Designs, and this one is called “Arty Expression 2”. 

I made a recessed card to highlight the image.  I printed the digi on a very pale green vellum, and then layered it on white and lime green card stock.  The sentiment is a freebie from Create With TLC.

Michelle Perkett Studio - “We Heart You” Blog Hop!

Wow, I can’t believe how fast my six months as a DT member for Michelle Perkett Studio’s has went.  I was so fortunate to have spent the time with very talented and lovely “mermaids”.  Of course, being able to work with Michelle’s beautiful and stunning images was the “bomb” as the kids say today!

The blog hop starts on Michelle's personal blog.  I hope you came here from Claire's blog, I bet she had something amazing to show you!

The blog hop “We Heart You” is all about saying thank you, for your friendship and your inspirations along the way.  I consider myself very lucky to have met you all, and got to chat with you on our groups.  It was nice to share stories with you, to send you cyber hugs when you were down, and to share your happier moments, which there were many of!  I can not tell you enough how talented you are, and how many times I have sat at my computer and was amazed with your beautiful creations.  I will miss you all!  I also want to take a moment to say thank you to Michelle for allowing me to be part of her design team, and for creating such wonderful designs to work with!

Well, for my last card as one of the DT members for Michelle, I wanted to do something special.  I have seen a lot of “shadow box” cards on the internet and wanted to try one, but then I found out they were dies, and extremely expensive.  So, I decided to create my own.  After lots of measuring and re-measuring, and then cutting (by hand), this is what I came up with.  I am dedicating this card to Michelle and all my DT friends on MPS.  This is my way of saying thank you for your friendship.  I sure hope you like it!

 

I’m not going to take the time to get into all the details about how I made this card, the post would be way to long!  In the future I will write up the specs and post them, just in case anyone is interested in making one.

Since the image is called “Mary Mary”, I decided to include the nursery rhythm.  The first version of Mary Mary Quite Contrary, was published in Tommy Thumb’s Pretty Song  Book in 1744, but the last line read “And So My Garden Grows”, and it was “Mistress Mary” not “Mary Mary”, just a short history lesson for you!

                                         

I thought I would show you a close up of just the shadow box with the image Mary Mary.  The image is colored with copics, and then layered on yellow and red card stock, which is the theme through out the card.  The designer papers are from Martha Stewart and Basic Grey.  The punches are also by MS.  The red flower corners are made by Cuttlebug.  The mini roses are from Prima.  I also cut a flower from the same Basic Grey paper pad, and pop dotted it on the paper, for added dimension.

Wow, where did those two weeks go, I can’t believe it’s time for another challenge at Stamps R Us!  This time around we want to see something for girls and use a girl stamp.  We are so lucky, to have as our sponsor Sassy Studio Designs, and they so generously offered up 4 digi’s of your choice at the SSD store.  Are you the lucky winner this time?

                   

This image from SSD is called “Back To School Brittany”.  I colored the image with copics, and then cut it out, and layered it on the Spellbinders beaded oval die.  The designer papers are from the Olivia Paper Pad by Basic Grey.  I machine stitched around the card with pink thread, unfortunately it’s hard to see in the picture.  I also machine stitched above and below the ribbon with both pink and green thread.  I used the same paper to make the rolled rose buds.  Border punch is by Martha Stuart.  The ribbon and the shiny brad are from my stash of leftovers!

Sketch Saturday Challenge

                   

Last week I won the challenge on the Pollycraft Monday blog, and this is one of the gorgeous images I chose.  She is “Rodeo Sydney”, and she will be perfect for the Western Hoedown challenge on the Outlawz Challenge site.

So, of course the image was colored with copics, and then cut with the Spellbinders oval and scalloped dies.  The background was embossed with the Birthday Folder by Cuttlebug.  The designer paper is from the Marrakech paper pad by Basic Grey.  The sentiment I made using PSE.

Outlawz Sketch Challenge

I hope you have been checking out the Outlawz Challenges Site, they have lots of challenges going on, and wonderful prizes.  The theme has basically been “Western”.  Every Wednesday they have a new Sketch Challenge, and of course you had to keep with the theme of anything “western”for this weeks challenge.  I chose this adorable little “Donkey Smiles” image from Karen's Doodles, I believe it was a freebie a while ago,  on PCP.

                   

I colored the image with copics, then layered it on blue and then brown cardstock.  I used some twine to make a frame, around the picture.  The designer paper is Paperie Rouge & Mocha by Making Memories.  I used a freebie sentiment from Create With TLC.  I used my Cricut to cut 8 layers for the daisy, and to make it seem more full, I snipped each petal in half, then I added a metal brad for the center.  I also used a white gel pen to add dimension on the flowers.

Blossom Picks A Bouquet – By C.S. Designs

So, I have another beautiful image to show you from C.S. Designs, and this little flower bug is called “Blossom Picks A Bouquet”.  I hope you will check out the store, because Chris Stern, the artist behind C.S. Designs have some unique digital images for you to play with!

                   

This is a pocket card.  I have included a tag with a sentiment, and it tucks inside the card.  The image was colored with copics.  I used the Sakura Glaze pens on the buttons and the antennae.   The designer paper is called Hopscotch by Basic Grey.  I also used the Diamond edge punch by Martha Stewart.  The beads on the tag, I made with left over designer paper.  The flowers were cut with my Cricut, and then I just added crystals for the centers.

Outlawz Birthday Challenge

 

The Outlawz site is having a Birthday Card Party, and it runs all week long.  Each day is a different challenge, and there are lots of prizes to be won!!  The theme for the Birthday Card Party is “Western”, and I have used a cute image from Sassy Cheryl’s Digi Stamps.

I have colored the image with copics, and then used the Spellbinders round and scalloped dies to cut and layer the image.  Then I just backed it with a circle.  All the supplies used on this card are my scraps from other projects.

Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge – Pick Your Own MPS Image!

This little cutie is called “Sleepytime Fairy”.  I colored the image with copics, and then framed it with the Spellbinders Round Beaded die.  Then I used the MS glitter on her wings and stars.  The gems are a light blue, which is hard to tell by the picture.  I embossed the back panel with the Moroccan Screen folder by Cuttlebug, then added some lace.  The yellow and blue border was cut with the MS Diamond edge punch.  The designer paper is from the Marjolaine Paper Pad by Basic Grey.  The flower I made with ribbon, then added a button from Doodlebug.  The sentiment is a freebie from Create With TLC.

Catch The Bug – Different Fold!

                          

This weeks challenge at Catch The Bug, is to use a different fold instead of the usual on your card.  I decided to do an easel card, one of my favourites!  I used the Friday Freebie “Clyde”.  He is so adorable!  My grandson will be three in May, so I might just put this one away for him.

The image was colored with copics, and I added some clear MS glitter to his wings.  The designer papers are from the Oliver Paper Pad by Basic Grey.   I made the brick background with the same papers.  Then after I gave the whole thing a coat of modge podge glue, I wanted it to be shiny, and also make sure none of the “bricks” came off over time.  I used Tim Holtz “Peeled Paint” stickles on the number 3.  Then layered the number on card stock cut with the Spellbinders round and scalloped dies.  The border punch is by Martha Stewart.

Expressive Heart 1– by CS Designs

So, this another one of the beautiful images my CS Designs, and part of the Expressive Heart series.  I really stepped out of my comfort zone with this one.  I usually do just cards, of various folds and techniques, and the odd ornament, but I decided to try a treat box.  This box I am calling (for lack of a better name) a “Doll Treat Box”.  It’s kind of a little on the weird side, but I think my grand-daughter would appreciate it.  I have to say I had lots of fun making it.  I hope you like it too!

                       

Well, I said it was kind of “funky”!  I guess it’s more of a bag than a box.  It is made with all my leftovers.  The image is colored with copics, and I added seed beads to the cheeks, and the face, in both pink and orange.  I used the Spellbinders oval and scalloped dies for the hands and feet, and the opening in the bag.  The hair is just some wired floral tape.

Charisma Montage – by CS Designs

                   

If you’ve never seen or tried CS Designs by Chris Stern, you are missing out on creating with beautiful digital images!  This one called “Charisma Montage” is no exception, and part of the Arty Montage group.  You can purchase CS Designs Here.  We also have a group on the CDAC site, hop on over and see what’s going on, and maybe get a little inspiration for creating your next card/project with a CSD image! 

I colored the image with copics, and then very carefully cut the picture into tiles.  Then I glazed each tile with glazing glue.  Once they all dried, I glued them to white card stock, to represent grout between each tile.  The lace was made with a MS corner punch.  I used the Dot embossing folder by Cuttlebug on the blue card stock.  I made the rolled rose buds with the same blue card stock, then just added a little ribbon under the roses.  The layout is a sketch from Pollycraft Monday.

Catch The Bug Challenge – Anything Goes!

                   

Time for another entry for the Catch The Bug challenge, Anything Goes!  I used the ever hilarious, and my all time favourite “Stella”. 

I colored the image with Copic markers, and because of a slight accident, I had to paper piece the blouse and skirt.  I used the new Spellbinders beaded oval die to layer the image on.  The hearts were cut out with the Cricut Doodle Charms cartridge, and then embossed with the Cuttlebug Romance folder.  The designer paper is by Martha Stewart.  The layout is a sketch from the Outlawz site.

Stamps R Us Challenge #14 Valentine/Love

I’m so thrilled to tell you, I was asked to join the amazing DT’s on the Stamps R Us Challenge Blog!  If you are unfamiliar with Stamps R Us, you can check out the site Here.  They have a challenge every two weeks, and it is posted on a Monday.  I hope you will check it out, we would love to see you there!

Expressive Heart 3–by CS Designs

I was so thrilled to get to play around with another gorgeous image  by Chris Stern of CS Designs.  There are three of the Expressive Hearts (so far).  I sure hope she does more!

                             

I found a tutorial on Split Coast Stampers for a “Swing Z Card”, and thought I’d give it a try.  This picture is of the card closed.

                          

This is the “Swing” part of the card.  Partially opened (left), and fully opened (right).  I also found out about “Feathering” with copics.  In case  you aren’t aware it’s using two different colors and blending them together.  I used purples and greens, and blues and greens, for the feathering of the flowers on the image.  I like how it turned out.  Will definitely be using this technique more often.

CS Designs–Willamina And Her Wand

Well, it’s snowing like crazy here, and I decided to use some bold and bright colors on my card today, sort of chase away the winter blues!!  This adorable image is from CS Designs, and it’s called “Willamina And Her Wand”.  She is a new release by Chris Stern owner of CS Designs.

                                    

Well, am I right or what!  She is so darn adorable!  I hope you will check out CS Designs, you will fall in love with them!

So, instead of making just a card, I figured this digi deserved something better.  I decided to make a Surprise Pop Up Easel Card.  The picture above is the card closed. 

                         

So here is the “Pop Up” part, and a surprise sentiment on the inside.  I found the tutorial for this on YouTube, I just decided to  make the card bigger.

The digital image was colored with copics.  I added some punched out stars to her shirt, to co-ordinate with her hair and wand.    I stitched around the layers with pink thread.  The rose bud was made with left over card stock.  The card actually opens, so that you can write or add another sentiment on the inside.  The easel part is connected to a tag with ribbon, and when you pull out the tag, the image stands up.   I hope you will give this easel card a try, it was fun to do. It takes a bit longer to make, but worth the extra effort!

Sassy Cheryl’s Challenge – We’re Celebrating Birthdays

                   

The theme this week at Sassy Cheryl’s challenge blog is to celebrate birthdays, and use one of the Sassy Cheryl’s “girl” digital images.  This little princess image is called “Dance Partners”.  This image reminds me of my friends daughter, so I thought it would make a perfect birthday card for her!

The image is colored with copics, and layered on celadon green and lavender card stock.  The panel is embossed with the Cuttlebug birthday folder.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the lace border.  The hearts are also embossed with the same folder, and then layered on the lavender card stock.  The sentiment is from Kraftin’ Kimmie.

Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge – Scallops and Frames

                  

Here it is, another Tuesday, and time for a new MPS challenge.  This week the theme is to use scallops and frames.  This week I am using the cutsy image called Val and Vinnie Valentine Kissing Couple”.  I love it!  You can find this digi at Michelle’s Etsy Store.  Don’t forget to check out the MPS Challenge Blog, for some gorgeous inspirations by the other DT’s, and of course link up your card/project, you may just be the lucky winner of one of Michelle’s digital images!

So, I’ve got lots of layers going on here.  The image is colored with Copics, and then I made a frame with one of the Martha Stewart border and corner punch.  Once I had it punched out, I just cut the center out to make the frame.  The little hearts are the scraps from the EK Success border punch I used on the background purple card stock.  The Designer Paper is by Graphic 45.  The mini roses are made by Prima.  The ribbon is from my stash (also layered).
