Stamps R Us Challenge – Pets R Us!

Wow, we had a huge amount of entries for our last challenge, and they were gorgeous!!  This time our challenge is to feature an animal.  We are very luck to be sponsored for this challenge by K 'n K Designs, who very generously gave the DT images to play with.  I hope you will stop by her store and check things out, because there are tons of digitals to chose from, and all as cute and adorable as my “little Sheep”.

                   

I decided to be different and have the infamous “Black Sheep”!  I colored the face, ears and legs with Copics, and then used Black Fun Flock for the body and feet.  I used a bit of pink chalk for the cheeks.  The designer paper is from the Kioshi Paper pad by Basic Grey.  I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder on the green and pink designer paper.  The sentiment is a freebie from Create With TLC.

Mo’s Challenge #84 Pearls and Flowers.

                  

For Mo’s Pearls and Flowers challenge this week I used the really sweet “Ben” digital image.  I colored the image with copics, and then layered it onto card stock.

The designer paper is from the Lauderdale Paper Pad by Basic Grey.  The buttons are also by Basic Grey.  I used the large dot embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  The little flower was made with the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die.  The border punch is by Martha Stewart.

Catch The Bug – Freebie Friday

I have more great news to share with you, I have been asked to be a Guest Designer for Bugaboo Stamps challenge blog for the month of June and July.  I can’t tell you how thrilled and excited I am!  Not only do I get to work with some amazing digital images, but also with the very talented design team.  It’s going to be an exciting two months!

I paper pieced and colored the image.  The skirt, top, hat and glasses were paper pieced, then I added some shading with copics.  I used the Sakura Glaze pens on the rim of the glasses, and the flower.  The designer paper is from the Eva paper pad by Basic Grey.  The embossing folder is from Sizzix.  The corners were cut with a Cuttlebug die.  Then I used some Prima mini roses, and added a bit of a bow.  The sentiment is another freebie from Create With TLC.

Outlawz Copic/Promarker Challenge

Happy Friday!  It’s time for another challenge using your Copics or Promarkers.  This week it’s an “Anything Goes”  challenge on The Outlawz.  The only rule is  you must use either Copics or Promarkers to enter the challenge.  Don’t forget to check out Outlawz for their amazing prizes for the month of May!

                   

I’ve used a adorable image by “House Mouse”, and colored the image with Copics.  The designer paper and card stock is from a Martha Stewart Paper Pad.  The border punch and butterfly is also by Martha Stewart.  I used the Diamond Trellis embossing folder by Couture on the yellow card stock.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I crocheted the yellow flower and then added a brad and attached it all to a green pre-made flower.  If you are interested in making your own crochet flowers you can find many different patterns Here at Crochet Pattern Central.  All I did was use a very small hook, and embroidery floss.  Have fun!

Mo’s Digital Pencil Challenge #83 Distressing

                   

This is “Bronte and Louis” sharing a treat, ummm chocolate chip cookies!  Such a sweet image, reminds me of my grandson Owen and his dog Toby.  The challenge this week at Mo’s is distressing. 

I colored the image with copics, and then I used Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink around the image, and also distressed the edges of the red card stock with scissors.  The two embossing folders are from Cuttlebug and Couture.  The designer paper is from the Sugar Rush paper pad by Basic Grey.  Border punch by Martha Stewart.

Teddy Bo Challenge # 10

                   

I’m on a roll, my third posting for today!!  This time the challenge at Teddy Bo, is to make “Teddy Bo” himself the main image for your card/project.

I colored the image with copics, and then layered him on red and then white cardstock.  The designer paper is from the Oliver paper pad by Basic Grey.  I got the cute little sentiment as a freebie from Create With TLC.  The layout for the card is the sketch challenge at Card Making and Papercraft.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #50

                   

For the challenge at Tiddly Inks we were inspired by a photo with colors of pinks and peaches.  I used the adorable “Fairy Fae” image.

I colored the image with copics, and used chalk ink on the cheeks.  The layers were cut with the oval and scalloped dies by Spellbinders.  On the wings I used the crystal clear glitter by Martha Stewart.  The designer paper is from the Olivia Paper Pad by Basic Grey.  I made the flowers with the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral dies, using the same designer papers.

I used a Magnolia image for my card, and colored her with Copics, and I used the colorless blender to make the polka dots on her dress.  A very easy technique to do, and adds a bit of drama to the dress.  I’ve used a lot of leftovers for this card, which is a big bonus.  The corners were made with a Martha Stewart border punch, and then the red card stock was embossed with a folder by Cuttlebug.  Designer papers are from the dollar store.  Flower by Prima, and button by Doodlebug.

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #111 Pink-a-Licious!

                  

I’ve used the image “Baby Fairy Flora” by Mo’s Digital Pencil for my card, she is just so adorable!  Since the challenge is Pink-a-Licious, I’ve colored her in different shades of pink using my copics.  I cut her out, and added dimensional dots to prop up her wings and feet.  Then she is layered on the oval and scalloped dies by Spellbinder.  The designer paper is from the Eva Paper Pad by Basic Grey.  I used the Romance embossing folder by Cuttlebug on the white card stock.  The flowers are Prima Mini Roses.  I stitched the outsides edges of the designer paper with pink and white thread.  The sentiment is from Create With TLC.

Stamps R Us Challenge–Use A Digi!

Happy Monday everyone!  Wow didn’t those last two week go by quickly!  Time sure flies when you are having a ball.

Our challenge for this Monday is to use a digi on your card/project.  This week we are being sponsored by Di's Digi Downloads, and she will be offering a generous gift to one lucky winner.  We were very fortunate to work with some of Di’s images for this challenge, and I chose the image “Friends Forever”.

                       

I chose this image as soon as I saw it, isn’t it so sweet!  I hope you will check out Di’s Digi’s because she has many beautiful images to chose from!

I colored the image with Copics, and then used a Sakura Yellow Glaze pen on the ruffles, and collar of the blue dress.  I glued lace around the image to give it a framed look.  The shape of the card was cut with my brand new Grand Calibur and Grand Labels Number One.  The tag is also cut from a Spellbinder die.  The embossing folder is Diamond Trellis by Couture Creations.  Flowers are Prima and from the dollar store.  Button is by Doodlebug.  The friendship sentiment is a freebie from Create With TLC.

Catch The Bug – Polka Dots and Stripes Challenge

                 

It’s been a miserable week here in my part of the world, it started raining Saturday morning and hasn’t stopped!  On the flip side it’s perfect for sitting in my craft room and working on some cards.  This week for the challenge at Catch The Bug,  I used the Friday freebie “Baby Stork”.  The layout (sketch) for the card is from the challenge at Sketch Saturday.

The image was colored with copics, and I used yellow Stickles on his hat and beak.  I also used blue chalk ink on the clouds and Stork, and pink chalk ink for the cheeks.  It’s cut and layered using the Spellbinders oval and scalloped dies.  The designer paper is from a Martha Stewart Paper Pad, and the border punch is also by MS.  The sentiment is another freebie from Create With TLC.  I made the flowers using the Tattered Floral die by Tim Holtz.

Outlawz Challenge – Color Me Something Cuddly!

It’s Friday the 13th today, and I have some exciting news to share!  I have been asked to join the talented Design Team ladies on the The Outlawz Challenges site.  I will be part of the Copics/Promarkers team.  If you haven’t heard or visited our site, please drop by, we have challenges for each day of the week, but with different themes, and wonderful prizes.  Hope to see you there!

I love to make easel cards, and when I found a tutorial for a twisted easel card on YouTube, I just had to try it! It’s very easy, and I love the twisty part.

Tuesday Morning Sketches – Challenge #93

                  

For the sketch challenge I used a Bugaboo Stamp from the Skelekinz Kids, and it’s called “My Heart”.  I colored the image with Copics, but paper pieced the boots and heart.

Sweet Posy Flower Tutorial

This tutorial was originally in the April 2011 issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine by Tracie Steeley,  it was for a wedding bouquet.  Please pop over and check out Tracie's blog, she has lots of gorgeous things to see!!!  I loved the flowers and wanted to use them for cards.  The assembly of the flower is the same, except I changed the size, and cut off the points, so that the flower would lay flat on a card or project.

1.  Cut five  1 1/4 inch squares of paper (plain or patterned).  Fold each square diagonally to make a triangle as shown.  For a sharp fold crease with a bone folder.  Thinner paper folds and creases better.

                         

2.  Fold the two outer points in to the center point to make a square diamond.  Press down firmly along all of the creases with your bone folder.

                                             

3.  Take one flap and fold back onto itself, as shown, so that the straight edges are lined up with the outside of the diamond.  Do the same to the other side of the diamond.  Crease the fold well with your bone folder.

                                                      

This is what they should look like now.

                                            

4.  Carefully open out the inside of the fold that you have just made, as shown.  Flatten down so it looks like the shape of a kite.  Do the same on the other side.  Use the bone folder on all sides to make the creases sharp.

                        

Now it should look like the picture below.                                                  

                                                  

5.  Fold the tops of the kite shape over the edges to crease, and then fold forward to make them even with the edges, as shown below.

                         

6.  Fold the two kite (now triangle) shapes in half along the vertical creases towards the middle as shown.  Crease sharply with your bone folder.

                                                

7.  Bring the two sides together and glue securely using a strong glue.  Hold together for a few seconds until it stays together.  

                                                 

8.  Now you glue your petals together to form the flower.  You can either glue it together, and once it’s dried cut off the points so that it lays flat.  Or, like I did, glue the sides, then cut off about 1/4 inch, then glue the flowers together.  See picture.

                                  

                          

The amount  you cut off is entirely up to you.  It depends on how high you want your flower to stand.  Here is a look at the flower from the back side.

                                                 

Once the glue dried, I add a small piece of paper on the bottom to make it easier to attach to my card.

Catch The Bug Challenge – May Flowers and Bright Colors

                   

We’re having another beautiful day here in my neck of the woods, a great start for May, and it’s also “voting” day here in Canada!  This is the 4th vote in seven years, maybe we will finally get it right!

I’ve used the adorable “Ladybug Bear” from Bugaboo Stamps.  You should check out the store, there is an amazing sale going on, and prizes to win, not to mention some fabulous images to play with!

I’ve colored the image with Copics, and used Martha Stewart glitter on the ladybug wings.  I’ve also used Sakura glazing pens on the black dots of the ladybug.  The designer paper is from the Sweet Fairy paper pad.  I love the sentiment from Create With TLC.  It reminds me of the Smothers Brothers (sure dating myself here).  They would always say “mum loves me best”.  I made this Mother’s Day card for my sister.  I know she is going to get a kick out of the sentiment!

I found a tutorial for the flowers, aren’t they adorable!!  They are called Sweet Posy, and I love how they turned out.  I found the tutorial in my favourite magazine Cardmaking and Papercraft from the UK.  It’s in the April issue.  It was originally a wedding bouquet tutorial by Tracie Steeley, but I thought if I made the flowers smaller I could put them on a card. 

                             

The only thing I had to change besides the size was cut off the points so that they would lay flat on the card.  Once they completely dried, I cut off about 1/4 of an inch, then glued a small scrap of paper on the bottom, so that they would be easier to adhere to the card.  Then I used a Sakura glitter pen on the top, to give them some shine.

May 2nd today, can you believe it?  It won’t be long until kids are out of school, and the weather will be gorgeous.  Where has the time gone!
