Catch The Bug Challenge – Splish Splash!

This week at Catch The Bug our challenge is Splish Splash, so anything to do with water, which is a great idea for this time of the year. 

My image is called “Summer Peek – Swimming Pool”.  I colored the image with Copics, and then layered it on various card stocks and designer paper using the round and scalloped Spellbinder dies.  The sentiment is a freebie from Create With TLC.

The Outlawz Copic/Promarker Challenge

Happy Friday everyone!  This week our challenge on The Outlawz is “Anything Goes”.  So let your creativity flow, just remember to use either Copics or Promarkers. 

I used the “Sleeping Flower” image from ADFD.  I found a tutorial for a swing card, and it was real easy and fun to do.   I colored my image with Copics, then used the oval and scalloped dies from Spellbinders to layer the image.  The border punch is by Martha Stewart.  The purple card stock was embossed with a Sizzix folder.  Now for the “Swing” part……

The top of the card opens by being attached with a brad, how cute is that!  It’s kind of like having a hidden pocket. The sentiment is a rubber stamp from C.C. Designs. I also attached it to a card, so that you could write something on the inside.  I hope you’ll give it a try, there are lots of possibilities with this technique.

I made an easel card, and used designer paper from the Lime Twist paper pad by My Minds Eye.  The sentiment was computer generated.  I used a Cricut cartridge for the rockets and a punch for the silver and gold stars.

Mo’s Digital Pencil Challenge

Something Sweet (Food Related)

It’s Thursday and time for another fab challenge at Mo’s Digital Pencil.  This week the theme is “Something Sweet” food related.  There are so many gorgeous images at Mo’s to chose from, and I used the “gosh she’s so darn cute” Birthday Fairy Lee digital image for my card.

I colored the image with Copics, and paper pieced the cupcake wrapper.  The icing was done with liquid applique, and while it was wet I sprinkled on some pink glitter.  I used a bit of pink chalk ink on the wings.  The designer paper is from the Fairy Paper Pad.  The flowers were made with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals, and I added a button and embroidery thread for the centers.  I also used the Antique Linen distress ink on the edges of the papers, the image and the flowers.  I made the doily with one of the Martha Stewart corner punches.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Mo’s Digital Pencil and the Design Team, for an incredible month of July as their GD.  I won’t be gone though, I’ll still be participating in some of their challenges!

New Release Tuesday!

Hi, everyone!  What a glorious week so far.  The humidity is taking a vacation, hope it doesn’t come back for a while.  It’s Tuesday and New Release day at Bugaboo Stamps.  Today we are featuring “Ginger”. 

Isn’t our little cookie chef so cute peeking out from her measuring cup!  I colored the image with Copics, and then multi-layered the image using the round and scalloped Spellbinder dies.  The designer paper is from the Kaiser Craft – Lilac Avenue paper pad, and the DP layered behind the image is by Martha Stewart.  The lilac panel was embossed with the Diamond Trellis folder by Couture Creations.  The sentiment is a freebie from Create With TLC.

Catch The Bug Challenge – Metallic Colors

This week at Catch The Bug Saturday challenge, our theme is Metallic Colors plus Brads or Eyelets. 

After a week of Christmas cards, it was great to do a summer going to the beach card with “Gus”.  This image is called “Gus At My Age”.  You can find this image HERE, along with many more of the adorable and outrageous Gus.

I colored the image with Copics, and then added the clouds with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink using a dabber and a template.  The sentiment comes with the image.  The designer paper is from the Echo Park Summer Days paper pad.  I used the Swirls embossing folder by Cuttlebug on the silver card stock.

Catch The Bug Mini Challenge and Freebie Friday

Woo Hoo it’s Friday, talk about an incredibly hot week in Canada!  Our final mini challenge for Christmas In July is “Anything Goes”.  What a great way to end the week.  I hope you have enjoyed our festivities for the week.  Don’t forget there will be a new linkz that will appear at 7am on the day of the challenge. I made a ornament using the “CS Scarf” image.  The snowflakes were cut using a Cricut cartridge, and then I added a crystal gem for the centers.  The image was colored with copics and then cut out and layered on the ornament.  The ornament is actually made with a toilet paper roll.  I found a tutorial for this ages ago.  I am going to try and find it again and will add the link for anyone who wants to try it.  It’s very simple to do, and cost nothing, since everyone has toilet paper rolls!

This weeks freebie Friday image is “Deacon Candy Cane”.  You can get this adorable image for free at Bugaboo Stamps, and while you are there have a browse at all the wonderful digital images Bugaboo has to offer!

I really love this image, and there will be more like this in the Bugaboo store.  The image was colored with Copics.  I added a bit of glitter on the bells, and the pom pom of his hat.  I used liquid applique and glitter on the trim of the hat.  The gold card stock was embossed with the Christmas folder by Cuttlebug.  I love the rich look of the gold and embossing.

Let’s Have A Pool Party!

Summer Vacation!

I hope most of you are on your summer vacation, and having a blast!  It seems the summer heat is here to stay awhile for most of Canada and the United States.  This week at Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge we want to see your cards/projects with a “Summer Vacation” theme.  I think with this heat we will see a lot of beaches and pool party themed cards!

For my Summer Vacation card I used the “Pool Party” image.  I colored her with copics then cut the image out, and popped it up on the background.  So I got the bright idea of printing out a grass template, then coloring it (no problem), and then cut it out.  Well what a job cutting around those thin blades of grass.  Not once mind you, I decided I needed two of them.  After I did the clouds, I added the grass then I colored on the sand.  The sun is also a digital stamp, which I colored then cut and added as the background.

I used the large dot embossing folder by Cuttlebug for the turquoise card stock panel.  The designer paper is from the Echo Park Summer Days paper pad.  The sentiment is a sticker, which I added to purple card stock, and then cut around it.

Non-Tradition Christmas Colors.

Monday already, the week-end just flew by!  Today’s the first of our Christmas In July mini challenges at Catch The Bug, and we want to see a card/project made with non-tradition Christmas colors.  We have daily prizes and we have weekly prizes. CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

It’s been a warm humid week here in Montreal, and I’ve been working on Christmas cards and praying for rain and even snow!  I believe we actually got to 40 degrees Celsius.  This week our challenge at The Outlawz is to make a Christmas card or project.  You can use any image, the only rule is you must use either Copics or Promarkers and even a combination of both.  So ladies, get a head start on your cards for the holidays, and at the same time you may even win one of the amazing prizes being offered at The Outlawz challenge site. My image is from Polly Craft, and it’s called “New Christmas”.  I love the Goth look of this image.  You could probably turn this into a Halloween image, by just changing up the colors and styles.

Freebie Friday–Bugaboo Stamps

This adorable “Bear Christmas Tag” is the Friday freebie from Bugaboo Stamps!  Jodie’s got a whole lot more in store, be sure to head over and check them out.

My tag was colored with Copics, and then layered on cardstock.  Tags are a great way to use up all those left over pieces of card stock from other projects, which is what I did here.

Miss Bossy!

Challenge #91

at Mo’s Digital Pencil

Black and White With One Contrasting Color.

This is my second week as GD with Mo’s digital pencil, and it’s been marvellous!  This week the challenge theme is to use black and white with one other color.  This does not include the hair or skin.  When I saw this cutie at Mo’s store, I immediate thought of my daughter.  This was the perfect image for her birthday card.  You’ll understand when you see the tag that is on the inside of the card.  The image is called “Bossy”.  I decided to make a Cross Over card so that I could add a tag.

My contrasting color is purple, my daughters favourite color.  I colored the image with Copics.  The image was cut and layered using the Lacy Square Dies by Spellbinder.  The two embossing folders I used were Happy Birthday by Cuttlebug, and Floral by Crafts Too.  The white card stock was already embossed.  Flower are by Prima.  The sentiment was computer generated.

This hilarious sentiment was a freebie I got ages ago from Create With TLC, and I knew I wanted to use this for my daughters card.  We have been bugging her about turning 30, and I thought this sentiment said it all!  Needless to say, she loved the card, and is realizing that turning 30 is nothing to worry about.  The one last thing I did with this card, is on the inside I added a birthday poem, but put it in large print…..another way to tease her.

My image is called “Spring Mailbox”, and it has some fancy trim for a mailbox!  The image was colored with Copics.  The panels were embossed with a Crafts Too folder.  I crocheted the flower then added a purple brad for the center.

Catch The Bug Challenge – Clean and Simple

Happy Saturday, and you know what that means, it’s time for another challenge on the Catch The Bug blog.  This week we are going with the theme of “Clean and Simple”.

I love CAS cards, they whip together in no time, and you get to showcase the image instead of all the pretty embellishments.  This week I am using the adorable “Birthday Turtle” digital image.  If you are looking for more of these cute little turtles,  you can head on over to the Bugaboo Stamps store, where you will have plenty to chose from.  Good luck, you won’t be able to buy just one.

I colored the image with Copics, then used some Martha Stewart glitter on the turtles spots.  The gorgeous embossed panel was done using the Couture Diamond Trellis folder.  I found this cute sentiment as a freebie on the Create With TLC blog.  The button is by Doodlebug.

The Outlawz Copic/Promarker Challenge

This week our challenge is Monochromatic, using the color BLUE.  You can use any image you’d like, but you must color with either Copics or Promarkers, or you can combine the two.  We have some wonderful prizes this month, be sure to head on over to The Outlawz for all the information concerning the prizes.

Mo’s Digital Pencil Challenge #90

I’m so excited to be posting my first project as a GD with Mo's Digital Pencil, and if you’ve seen Mo’s design team/dream team you will know this is quite an honour!  They are some of the most talented ladies out there in blog land.

The theme this week on Mo's Digital Challenge blog is “Vintage With Distressing and Lace”.  This was a great challenge for me to start my July GD spot with Mo’s.

The image I chose to use is called “Young Love”.  I colored the image with copics.  I distressed the edges with scissors, then lightly sponged on distress inks by Tim Holtz, and the colors I used were Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy.  The designer paper is from the Out Of Print paper pad by Basic Grey.  The border punch is by Martha Stewart.  The flowers which I’ve had for ‘donkey years’ are by Prima.  I’m so glad I finally got to use them.  The adorable sentiment was a freebie from Create With TLC.

New Release Tuesday!

Hi everyone, hope you’ve all enjoyed your long week-end.  It was Canada Day on Friday, and the 4th of July, yesterday for my American neighbours.

Today, Jodie’s new release is "”Snowman Ornaments”, and what a blast they were to work with.  I chose to make tags with the images.

I used the Wonky Spellbinder dies to make the shape of the tags, and I add the “To and From” to the tags.  I colored them with copics, and used shimmer paint on the ornaments.  This was very quick and easy to do.  Don’t forget to check out the other samples from the DT’s, and then head on over to Bugaboo Stamps  to see what else Jodie has in store for you!

Meet Trudy–Mo’s New Paper Doll

If you are a fan of Mo’s Digital Pencil, she is having a contest right now on Facebook.  She gave a link to everyone who wanted to participate to get this adorable freebie, plus the party dress that goes with her.  You can either make a paper doll, or just use Trudy on a card, but you must use the dress and Trudy on your projects.

She is just so darn cute.  She is actually just in her underwear, but then the fun is in creating a lovely party dress or two, for your paper doll.  I attached the doll, but she can easily be removed, so that she can be played with.  I also added a little cardboard stand, that way she will stay propped up.  The card is a double pocket diagonal card.  I made two tags, to represent her closet, each tag holds two dresses.  I drew the little silver hangers for her clothes.  The actual paper doll is colored with Copics, but all the dresses are paper pieced.

This shows the tags partially pulled out.  I used some embroidery floss as a pole to hang the hangers on.  The sentiment is from Kraftin’ Kimmie.

So, here is picture of all her lovely little party dresses.  What a spoiled little girl! 

This was so much fun to do, it reminded me of when I was little.  I use to cut out the models from the Sears catalogue, and then make my own clothes.  I can remember spending  hours playing with the paper dolls.

Catch The Bug Challenge – Anything Goes!

Happy Saturday all!  Can you believe we are into July already, half the year gone, or you could say half the year still to come!  We got an easy challenge for you this week over at Catch The Bug, and it’s Anything Goes, easy right?

My daughter is pregnant with her second child, and I thought this would be a cute card to send her, because lord knows, everything is better with CHOCOLATE, even back pain!  I’m sure she will get a real kick when she gets this card.  The image is called “JJ Back Pain”.  If you love this image, then head on over to Bugaboo Stamps, there are lots more cute JJ images, with hilarious pregnancy sentiments to go with them.

I’ve colored the image with Copics, then layered it using the Reverse Wonky Rectangle dies, by Spellbinders.  The designer paper and border punch is from the Martha Stewart line.

The Outlawz Copic/Promarker Challenge

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Woo Hoo, it’s Friday and another long week-end here in Canada!  We have another awesome Copic/Promarker challenge for you over at The Outlawz.  This week our theme is a “Male” card. 

Today I’m using one of my rubber stamps for a change.  I’ve had these stamp for awhile, and it was a freebie, along with a few others in the Card Making and Paper Craft magazine from the U.K.  The stamps are from the “Bentley” line.

I colored the image with copics, and then tried a new technique for the shading.  After I laid down three colors of blue, and got them blended till I was happy with it, I used the blending pen to remove some of the color, giving it highlights.  I am quite pleased with the effect.   The designer papers are from the My Minds Eve paper pad (Stella Rose).  The sentiment is another great freebie from  Create With TLC.

I want to give a shout out to my lovely blog friend Marilyn, who so kindly gave all the DT members on Stamps R Us, a tutorial on “how to make clouds”.  I hope you’ll stop by her blog and check out her wonderful creativity!  I love this technique so much, you’ll probably see a lot more clouds on my cards.
