New Stash Thank You Card

Have you checked out the fabulous card kits at Simon Says Stamps?  I’ve started getting them since May.  I love them!  So, I decided to make a ‘Thank You’ card with my new June kit. 

I’m so use to creating cards with images and then coloring them in with Copics, so this was really something new for me.  I started off with white card stock, then sponged on distress inks (spun sugar and then tattered roses) by Tim Holtz.  I wanted to keep the center were light.  Then I used one of the stamps that came with the kit, and the tattered roses ink to stamp along the outside of the card stock.  After that, I used the black ink to stamp the image and the sentiment.  Here is a close up.

You can just see the stamping around the edges of the card stock.  I layered everything on grey cardstock, added some ribbon and a bow.  I also added seed beads to the end of the pin.  The heart is a brad.  I love that it looks very rich, and at the same time a simple card.

Kraftin’ Kimmie Challenge

Another fun challenge this week at Kraftin' Kimmie, it’s “Get Sentimental”.  I’m using another one of the gorgeous and cute Lulu rubber stamps. 

Love the expression on her face as she is whipping up a ‘sweet treat’.  I’ve used Copics to color the image, then just layered her on pink and blue card stock.  The sentiment comes with the rubber stamps.  The heart was made with Spellbinder dies.  I then added a flower button and some pink twine.

Sassy Cheryl’s Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's  challenge this week is a sketch.  I’m using the “Ladybug” digital stamp by Sassy Cheryl’s.

The image is colored with Copics, and then layered on the oval and scalloped dies by Spellbinders.  The flowers and butterfly are made with punches by Martha Stewart. 

I had a ball with this image.  I actually had to color the image three times.  The first time I printed it on a new cardstock I thought I would give a try, but it ended up causing the copics to bleed.  So I went back to the cardstock I use all the time, but that ended up being just plain white cardstock, so the copics wouldn’t blend….. what a nightmare!!!  Finally, I used a new sheet of my Xpress Copic paper, and voila image colored with no problems.  Lesson to myself, stick with what you know works, and keep cardstock always separated!

Sketch With “Just Magnolia”

I’ve been trying to use stuff from my stash, that I’ve had for ages, and never or hardly ever used.  I figure it’s a good way to make room for more.  You know a girl can never have too much stuff!  I’m using another Magnolia stamp, which I have had for a couple of years now.  I think I might have used her one other time.

I’ve colored the image with Copics in my favourite color combo of purple and green.  The designer paper is from the Kaiser Craft Lilac Avenue Collection.  The ribbon and lace are also from my stash that’s been hanging around for ages.  I made the rolled roses with an MFT die.  I’ve add some glitter to her wings using a Sakura Glitter pen, but unfortunately you can’t see it in the picture.

Teddy Bea

It was a wonderful long week-end here in Canada, but it was hot and humid!!  Of course, today it’s raining, but it’s a lot cooler.  It’s been a while since I played with some Teddy Bo digital images, so I printed off a few and colored up the lovely Teddy Bea.

The greeting card challenge on The Outlawz, is to make a card/project with the theme of strawberries.  This image fits perfectly!  I colored the image with copics.  The flowers and leaves were made with punches.  The layout is a sketch from the Teddy Bo challenge blog.

Kraftin’ Kimmie Sketch Challenge

Another cute rubber stamp from the “Lovely Lulu” collection from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.  This week the challenge on their blog is a sketch.  You can see the sketch by visiting the K.K. blog.

I’ve used a lot of dies on this card.  The layering and scroll work are dies by Memory Box.  One is called Debutante Frame and the other is Vaudeville Frame.  The flowers are a die also by Memory Box (Petal Party).  The white frons are a die by Marianne Designs, and the faux crochet border is by MFT.  I embossed the black background with a Hearts folder by Darice.  It’s hard to see it in the picture!  The sentiment is part of the Lulu collection.  Last but not least the butterfly is a punch by Martha Stewart.

Circle Card

Another great challenge at DP2 blog, and it’s to make a circle card, and use one of Mo’s Digital Pencil images.  The image I used is called “Spit Happens”.

It’s such a cute little image!  The shape of the card was cut using the Wild Card cartridge by Cricut. I colored the image with Copics, then cut and layered it using the round Spellbinder dies.  The doily is a die cut by Cheery Lynn Designs and it’s called “French Pastry”.  The cute little candle button I picked up here at a store called Omer Des Serres.

Don’t Be Square!

They’re having a fun challenge on the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge blog.  You have to make anything but a square card!  I love this type of challenge.  It’s gets you out of the rut of always making the same shaped card.  I am using a rubber stamp from the Lulu and Friends collection.

Isn’t she a sweetie!  I used the color combo of orange, yellow and white which are the requirements for the Outlawz challenges (Tuesday Color Combo).  To make the shape of the card I combined two different shaped Spellbinder dies.  The sentiment is part of the stamp collection.  I used brads so that I could run the twine threw them and around the card.  I just got a brand new MFT flower die, which I promptly used for this card,  The embossed hearts are made with an embossing folder by Darice.

Clean and Simple Communion Card

A friend’s daughter is receiving her first communion on Sunday, and this is the card I made for her.  I love CAS cards, but it’s not always easy trying not to add more little details to the card!

This lovely embossing folder is made by Darice.  The sentiment was computer generated and printed right on the card.  Then I used the large and small Martha Stewart butterfly punches to give dimension to one of the embossed butterflies.  I used white vellum and pink cardstock for the butterfly, and then pink gem stones for the body.  This card came together in a matter of minutes.

Nellie Snellen–Sweet Elin!

Morning folks, hope you are having a great week so far!  I just got this cute little Nellie Snellen rubber stamp, and had to play with it right away!  I love the cute little frog sitting on the daisy, or is it a sunflower?

She’s such a cute little fairy!  I colored the image with Copics, and then added some Martha Stewart glitter to her wings and wand.  The framed die cut is by Spellbinders.  I punched the flowers and leaves with Martha Stewart punches.  The designer paper is from the Lilac Avenue Collection by Kaiser Craft.  The sentiment is part of the Lulu and Friends collection (Sassy Cheryl's).

Magnolia Down Under Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday everyone, hope you all had a wonderful week-end.  I’ve discovered the challenge blog Magnolia Down Under this week-end, and decided to dust off my rubber stamps and play along.  I love my Magnolia stamps, but often forget about them.  My daughter finds them creepy.  She doesn’t like it that they don’t have a  nose or mouth!

This sketch was great, because I could use a lot of my left over scraps of designer paper.  I sponged on the background clouds with distress ink.  I colored the image with Copics (my favourite coloring medium).  The bench is a digital image, which I cut out and added to the scene, so that she would have something to sit on.  The butterfly, and ferns are punches by Martha Stewart, and the white swirls and leaves are a die cut by Creatables.

Going For A Spin!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Hope you are all having a fabulous Mother’s Day, and being spoiled!  I had a wonderful breakfast made by my hubbie, and will Skype with the family sometime during the day. 

I’ve got a card for you today made with a digital image from Mo’s Digital Pencil, and she’s called “A Big Whoop”.  The challenge this week on the MDP challenge blog is called “Tickle My Funny Bone”.  I love this image, and while I was coloring her, I got the bright idea to make her spin.  Sort of like a kid doing cartwheels!

I cut her out and then layered her on black card stock, and then cut her out again.  I thought it would make the image pop, and give it more stability as it was spun.  I used the ‘Ole’ penny trick for the spinning mechanism.  I colored the image with copics.  I’ve also dipped into my scrap stash for the various designer papers.  The sentiment is from Create With TLC.

Parchment and Rubber Stamps

The Sweet Stamps Blog is challenging us to use Parchment paper and rubber stamps.  So I thought I would give it a try.  I’ve done two of them. One to fit the challenge, and then I thought I would try one with just embossing and white ink. 

I’ve used a stamp and sentiment I got free with a magazine.  I used clear ink and then embossed it with bronze embossing powder.  I colored the image with markers.  I didn’t want to see the tape behind the parchment (vellum) so I attached it with bronze brads.  I made the butterfly with a Martha Stewart punch. 

Here is the second card I made with just embossing.

I like this look, but I could use a little more practice, and of course, it’s still good to try something different.  The butterfly is also a Martha Stewart punch.

Whimsical Fairy

Got a cute little card I was working on today using a Lili of The Valley stamp.  I’ve had these for a while, but never got around to using them. 

I chose the color combo of blue, purple and green, and I love how vibrant it looks!  I colored the image with Copics, but had a bit of an accident on the dress, so I paper pieced the dress.  I had already did most of the stamp and didn’t want to start over.  I added some glitter to her wings, but you can’t really see it in the picture.  Way to dark and gloomy here today for picture taking.  I used a couple of Martha Stewart punches for the flowers, and then added a brad for the center.

Lulu and Friends

Just got my rubber stamps from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps, and couldn’t wait to use them.  This one is from the Lulu and Friends collection.  The challenge on the Kraftin' Kimmie Blog is to make a card for Mom.

I love the Lulu stamps, I think it’s the expression on her face, and her oversized shoes that makes me love them so much! 

I colored the image with copics.  The lace die is by MFT.  I cut two of them and put them together and attached the ribbon in the middle.  I made the flowers, ferns and leaves using Martha Stewart punches.    The sentiment was computer generated using PSE, and then layered using the round and scalloped dies by Spellbinders.

I’ve been on a roll making Mother’s Day cards, for my family, friends and neighbours.  This one I kept simple and used white on white with a touch of purple and a bit of embossing.

The dies are all Spellbinders, and the flower was made with a MFT die.  The sentiment was done using PSE.

Potty Girl

My card today features one of Mo’s Digital Pencil images called “On The Pot Girl”.  I just love this image.  I did the little boy last year for my grandson when he finally used his potty.   He was so excited that he had to call Grammy and tell her all about it!

I finally got back into coloring again with Copics.  I added a few dots to her shirt using the Sakura Glaze pens.  The designer paper is from a children’s paper pack I picked up at Wal-Mart ages ago.  The card layout is a sketch from the MDP challenge blog.

Chalks and Embossing Dies

I’ve been fooling around with some of my old dry embossing thin dies, and seeing how they look after going threw the Cuttlebug.  It was just a matter of using some cardboard shims to get the right amount of pressure, to create the raised effect.  I love how it turned out!  After that I left it in the die and then sponged on some chalk ink.  It gives it a very soft look.

It’s so pretty!  I’ve used one of my favourite color combos pink and green.  The butterflies and lace scalloped borders are both by Martha Stewart.  The embossing panel is by Sizzix.  I left off a sentiment so that the card could be used for multiply occasions.

Birthday Wishes!

This card features some more handmade flowers using the Martha Stewart punches.  The flowers and ferns and leaves are all made using various colors of vellum card stock.

The lace square was cut using both the border and corner punches by Martha Stewart.  Then you use the corner punch again for the second punch inside of the first.  I found the tutorial for this on Pinterest.  It’s very simple.  What I did is punch the square (5 inches) then I marked on the reverse side about 1/4 inch in and used that to align the punch and have it exactly in the corner again.  The instructions can be found here, but you have to translate the page.  The sentiment is from MFT.

I’m Back…….

Wow, I can’t believe i haven’t posted or worked on cards since last year, no wonder I am having crafting withdrawals!!  I’ve also become a Pinterest fan (well maybe more of an addict).  I have found lots and lots of craft ideas and tutorials.  I’m also enjoying trying out my hand at punch art, instead of always coloring an image with copics.  So I have been buying punches to add to my huge pile of craft supplies.  Well, a girl can never have too much….lol!

I found a tutorial on Pinterest for making Hydrangea’s.  You can find all the info here.  She has many amazing tutorials.  I cased her design, but added a few of my own elements.

This is a Mother’s Day card for my daughter Stacey.  I think she will love it, like I do!  The punches I used were by Martha Stewart.  The window was cut out using a Spellbinder die.  I hope  you will give this a try, it’s very simple and elegant.
