Today I have a first time project for me using one of the sentiments from the Scrapbook Essentials stamps.  I have chosen to do a mixed media journal and I had such fun creating it!!  By the time I was finished I had gesso and paint all over the place and had to give my desk a good scrubbing!  I think it was worth it!!  I hope you think so too!

I picked up a journal at the Dollar Store and removed both front and back covers and gave them three coats of gesso to cover the design.  I've used many dies and stencils to create all the layering.  I will list them at the end.  Once all the dies were placed on the covers I applied two more coats of gesso and let them dry overnight.  Then I applied some shimmer mist and some Adirondack Ink by Tim Holtz, letting it dry between each application of color.  Once this was finished I added more shimmer mist and then some gems.  The final touch was to add the sentiment "everyday life" and then I re-attached the covers and my journal was finished.
Here is a list of dies, stencils and inks.
Simon Says Stamp Stencils - Falling Hearts, Medium Dots and Harlequin.
Simon Says Stamp Dies - Doily Hearts, Numbers, Butterflies.
La-La-Land Dies - Hanging Hearts and Love word, Steampunk Clock.
Inks - Tim Holtz Adirondack Purple Twilight and Yellow.
Perfect Pearls Mists - Heirloom Gold and Perfect Copper.
Here is a picture of the back of the journal.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.  I hope you'll try making your own journal!!
